"I met Zack five years ago in Wall Street Institute where he was a teacher. I knew the other teachers but I never met them outside of class. Zack is a different teacher. His teaching style is very different, for example, he corrects me when I make mistakes, but politely. He really wants me to improve.
He pushes me to speak correctly, well and clearly. And he has a different teaching style, for example, we meet in different places and do different things in class. One day we talk about films, singers, about Turkey and Istanbul. Another day we speak about more general things and business English. And also he is friendly, he wants to help me find a job as a pilot. He introduced me to a very popular businessman in Istanbul, Dr. Doğan Birgul."When I started to do class, before, on other courses, I used to speak like Tarzan... but he pushed me to speak. My special program is 3 hours per day. We planned an Intensive General English Course 12 hours a week. Our class time is not fixed. We can arrange everyday depending on our schedules. We can change the times 30 minutes or 1 hour earlier or later than booked. I prefer classes after lunchtime. Its convenient for both of us.
We have a program, we follow some books. Zack gives me a correction sheet for every class. When we do class and I make a mistake, he corrects me and I make a note of the errors in case I forget. I collect them and sometimes study them . I know I’m learning useful new words and expressions. In my opinion, every hour I’m ‘putting more stones on the building’ (Turkish Idiom?). When we finish doing class I’m still thinking in English on my way home.
I listen to the radio, the DJ is speaking Turkish and I’m translating all the time into English. I want to speak all the time. Zack gave me some books for reading for Pre-intermediate students. After reading or while reading, we do exercises or tests. Then my pronunciation problem... He recommended some useful internet addresses, sent me the links and his own internet site – www.destinationenglish.com.
Destination English is useful if you have time to use the internet. There are some very useful links. If you want to learn new words, you can learn easily, you can play interactive games. You can do a level test or reading level test and pronunciation links. And listening, he also gives me a Cd for the reading book. I can listen and read at the same time. It’s more useful for me but I tried to load to my phone but my phone memory is small. If I change the memory, I will listen to the books at the same time as I read them.
New English File (Oxford University Press) is a good book. The book is supported by the website. Zack has a lot of documents and communication exercises, educational games. He also gives me quicktests, regular tests and with the website supported activities, it’s possible to study 24/7".
